Polo Match 2004 benefits children in six Latin American countries |

POLO,
ASADO AND TANGO FOR THE NEEDY CHILDREN IN LATIN AMERICA
Under
a brilliant sun, on a cool spring day more than 2000 people got
together to make the second edition of the Generosity Polo Cup an
extraordinary success that will fill with hope the heart of hundreds
of needy children in Latin America, the final recipients of this
significant effort.
On
Saturday, March 20 Miami, Key Biscayne and Palm Beach said present
at the Palm Beach Polo & Country Club to support the projects
of Fundación Manos del Sur , a non profit
organization whose mission is to help children living in extreme
poverty in Latin America.
Eight
of the best players in the world participated in this match, all
of them with a 10 handicap. It is important to note that only 12
polo players in the world have that handicap.
The
EFG Private Bank team was formed by Adolfo Cambiaso, Marcos
Heguy, Mariano Aguerre and Eduardo Heguy. The other team, sponsored
by Cerveza Quilmes formed its lines with Bautista
Heguy, Javier Novillo Astrada, Mike Azzaro y Lolo Castagnola. The
final result of the game was 14 to 11 in favor of team EFG
although everybody agreed that the only winners were the needy children,
who will receive all funds raised by Fundacion Manos del
Sur .
The
event started with an argentine "asado" that was served under the
VIP tent, specially arranged for the occasion. Beside the excellent
lunch provided by La Estancia Argentina
, the guests could enjoy the Hereford wines , the
coffee provided by Ad Gustum restaurant
and an international Tango Show. Roxana Garber y Oscar Caballero
danced to the music of Armando Gutie, Héctor Garrido
and Miguel Arrabal, and delighted the enthusiastic audience.
Important
personalities participated in this event that was sponsored by the
Swiss bank EFG Private Bank , Cervecería Quilmes
, Aerolíneas Argentinas , Pololine , La Martina , Starwood
Hotels and Resorts , Telesport SA , Homevision , Fidec , Argentina
Foods and Wines , Argentina Tourism and the Argentine Consulate
in Miami.
The
local children were not forgotten and could enjoy a "children's
center" presented by Homevision, with the delight
of their parents who could peacefully enjoy the lunch and show.
Paulina
Montes, president of Fundación Manos del Sur ,
expressed her gratitude to all participants and sponsors. She emphasized
that all funds raised would be destined to the organization's projects
in Argentina, Venezuela, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador and El Salvador.
"Today we could change many children's lives in our countries"
she said and added that with the funds raised they would finance
the projects with the most urgent needs.
Claudia
Batlle-Sapetnitzky, co-founder of Manos del Sur, said that she was
very satisfied with the event's success and to have established
the Generosity Polo Cup as an event of the highest level, not only
sportive and social wise but also of solidarity. "I am very happy
with today's results, because it opens an immense window of possibilities
to find sponsors for our projects. She also emphasized the
enormous effort of all the volunteers of Fundación
Manos del Sur , because this year, everything was done
thanks to the dedication of the volunteers.
