This home, located in Piura, Peru, houses, feeds and educates over 75 abandoned children between the ages of 3 months and 17.
The children are orphans, have been abandoned or lived in such abusive environments that they were relocated by a judge. These children are provided with a loving home, receive nutrition, healthcare, clothing, psychological care, education, recreational activities and the emotional support necessary to help them reach their full potential.
Manos del Sur has been working with the Aldeas Infantiles since 2009, and has completed several projects:
Implemenation of a series of workshops not only to provide job training for the older children (carpentry, dressmaking) but also to improve the quality of all the children’s nutrition (bakery, production of vegetables and raising small animals).
Improvement of the bedrooms: we bought new mattresses, bought the materials for new wardrobes and remodeled the bathrooms.
Acquisition of computers and hiring a computer teacher.
Improvement of the condition of the houses where the children live: repair doors and windows, install mosquito screens, electrical maintenance, roof repair.
- Reconstruction of the laundry.
