Azul Wasi Visit
Visit to Azul Wasi in Peru
A group of South Florida friends left on an adventure trip to the Peruvian Andes, that included a visit to a small home for abandoned children in the outskirts of Cuzco. Azul Wasi is a humble home for children and teenagers that were abandoned of found in dangerous conditions on the streets. Here, they live in extreme poverty but they have a roof, food and the love of a big family. They are encouraged to go to school every day and prepare themselves to become independent professionals. In 2011 they sent the first student to the University of Cusco.
The group spent a whole day at the orphanage. From Miami, they brought toys, clothing and rosaries that were blessed by the priest at the San Ignacio Church in Cusco. The children tried pancakes for the first time in their lives.. and ate them two at a time! They played a soccer game, enjoyed by the children and even more by the adults! and they ended the day with a yoga class where, through games and happiness they understood the beauty of the unity to create and share peace in the world.
